Strindberg worked for scientific research, studied chemistry, worked as a medical student, and also had some unfortunate marriages. I was interested in the similarity between the two people of Strindberg and the captain.

I can see Strindberg’s own shadow in “the father”. He was to fictionalize, rearrange, and distort the facts of his life in ways in this script. To a certain extent, I think this script is Strindberg's deconstruction of his life.
